Summary & Responsibilities

The role of the System Administrator is to be responsible and manage computer software and unix systems to ensure high levels of availability and security of the applications. The System Administrator will participate in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance.


  • Assist with capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for application and unix systems and software
  • Coordinate with network engineering, business application, and database administration functions to implement desktop and server systems
  • Install/Deploy unix systems, software, servers, printers, firewalls, encryption systems, and all security systems
  • Manage and support application software and unix system administration.
  • Create and support Unix shell scripts, monitoring of cron jobs including sftp, etc.
  • Manage all operating systems and end-user software.
  • Manage communications and connection solutions
  • Manage input/output fleet, including printers and scanners.
  • Manage end user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with regulatory compliance.
  • Perform network and security audits.
  • Provide end user application support, batch support and coordination with software vendors.
  • Perform and test routine system backups and restores.
  • Anticipate and resolve hardware and software problems on servers, input/output fleet, and workstations.
  • Practice network asset management
  • Support application development teams through the completion of various projects
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware improvements, reconfigurations, and/or purchases.
  • Conduct research on emerging products, services, and standards in support of systems software procurement and development efforts.
  • Negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure software products and services.
  • Develop and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for system administration and use.
  • Manage and guide junior members of the team.
  • Perform standard configuration, management, and maintenance tasks for related file systems, input/output systems, networking, clustering, storage, and applications.
Requirements
  • Fluent in English
  • Graduate degree on Computer Science or related area
  • or 5 years of work experience with System Administration
  • Good application software and Unix knowledge
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to conduct research into hardware and software issues and products as required
  • UNIX operating capabilities necessary
  • GLOBUS knowledge is ideal
  • Ability to present ideas and solutions
  • Highly self motivated and directed
  • Pays attention to detail.
  • Uunderstanding of banking platforms
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience
